Our vintage papier mâché bowls have been selected for their unique character imparted through years of traditional Indian household use.
Typically having been used to grind spices in has caused the bowls to exude the time worn patina that provides the authenticity mark of a vintage item. Their handmade nature gives them an appealing slightly irregular aesthetic which marries beautifully with the highly textural and organic nature of the material they’re made from. A matte chalk-like finish lends an overall stone-like appearance.
Each bowl varies in size and shape; some will be elevated by a tiny pedestal whilst others won't; some may have a protruding top decorative rim whilst others will be plain-sided. A few may even be infused with the faint aroma of the spice that was ground within them, but what you can expect is for each bowl to be individual and in its original condition.
